President

As the President, Chief Investment Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and Principal of SSB&T Wealth Management, my primary responsibilities include leading the business both internally and with our client relationships. Internally, I focus on building repeatable systems and processes to ensure consistent product delivery for our clients. Externally, I take pride in telling the story of SSB&T Wealth Management. With over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, I specialize in long-term cash flow planning, tax planning, investment management, retirement planning, and family communication.

I began my career in the financial services industry as a paraplanner at Abacus Planning Group in August 2004. I obtained a BS in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University in 2004 and later pursued an MBA in Financial Planning from California Lutheran University in 2015. I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) and hold the certifications of Certified Family Business AdvisorTM and Certified Family Wealth AdvisorTM. In addition to my professional commitments, I am involved in several organizations, including the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the Financial Planning Association, and the Family Firm Institute. These involvements keep me connected with industry professionals and allow me to contribute to the community.

Being a thinking partner with my clients brings me great joy. I work with industrious, intelligent, and hardworking people, and I enjoy journeying alongside them. Listening, learning, connecting the dots, and creating a plan to reach goals are the aspects of my job that I most enjoy. I believe that the greatest value I can provide for my clients is peace of mind.

During my free time, I enjoy reading historical fiction and biographies, with James Michener and Wendell Berry being my favorite authors. I also love dancing the Texas Two Step and the Waltz, engaging in whitewater rafting adventures on the Gauley River in West Virginia, and spending time kayaking with my family and friends. Backpacking and outdoor activities are other hobbies that bring me joy. Additionally, I serve as an Elder at Trinity Church in Fredericksburg, where I find fulfillment in contributing to the spiritual well-being of our community.

I currently live in my hometown of Fredericksburg, Texas, with my wife, Keva, and our three children, Ellory, Audyn, and Marleigh. We experienced the loss of our daughter, Kenna Joy, to end-stage Acute Myeloid Leukemia on November 2, 2022. My family provides endless support to my career. They encourage me to keep going when times are hard, and they remind me of how multi-faceted life is for me and others. As much as I love my profession, it pales in comparison to the joy Keva and our children bring. The loss of our daughter was difficult, and Kenna Joy’s life serves as a constant reminder that our days are numbered and each day, each moment we have with each other truly is a gift.
